Sunday Spotlight

Each Sunday I highlight a character from the upcoming novel She Waited. Today's Spotlight is on Brianna, a most. . . unique woman.

DK: Hello Brianna, and welcome. Thank you for speaking with me.

Bri: Certainly. Tis a pleasure.

DK: That's a great accent, a bit like music. Irish?

Bri: Oh aye. I'm from our Green Isle sure as not.

DK: May I also say, you have lovely red hair. A bit like another young lady we have featured here on the Spotlight.

Bri: (smile) And I thank you for the lovely compliment.

DK: Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

Bri: I dinna have much to tell you. I'm but a common woman.

DK: Well, um, perhaps but you don't have feet and you float instead of walking. Plus I can all but see through your, um, body.

Bri: Oh aye, yes, I supposed there is indeed that small little fact.

DK: Can you tell us why you're mostly transparent?

Bri: T'was a curse done to me because--- (loud clap of thunder). Well then, I guess I won't be telling you.

DK: We spoke with a Brendan and he--

Bri: (grabs DK's arm and shakes it) You spoke to Brendan? Is he well?

DK: He looked fine. He doesn't speak much though.

Bri: Nay, not about some things he would not. Tis glad I am he's well.

DK: You're his wife.

Bri: That I am.

DK: Is he cursed as well?

Bri: (looks up) He is, aye.

DK: Anything else you can tell us?

Bri: Love always finds a way. And now I must go.

DK: Thank you for joining us for Sunday Spotlight. Join us next week for another interview.

Brianna as she appears in She Waited:

Kylie watched, spellbound, as the shape of a woman came into view. Her long red hair, the color of Kylie's own, streamed behind her, plaited and braided away from her face then left to waterfall down her back. She wore a light blue flowing tunic, a bit toga-like in appearance, her deep blue eyes intent upon Kylie. She was slim, her fingers long and slender as they held a scroll. She seemed about Kylie's own height. It was hard to tell. Her feet were not visible. She was not walking. She was floating, above the floor. And she was translucent. Kylie’s jaw dropped.
“Ah, now, no need to have any worries, Kylie love. I’ve nay wish to harm you. I just need your assistance.”

Sunday Spotlight

Each Sunday, I spot light a different character from the book She Waited. In today's Spot Light, we have Captain Brendan, son of Brian, as our guest. Please help me welcome this... intriguing character.

DK: Hello and welcome to you. I understand you're a Captain of a ship?

B: I was, once, long ago. I've not been a Captain now in... many years.

DK: Did you find a different job then?

B: Nay, my ship was... lost.

DK: Lost how?

B: In a storm. I prefer, lass, not to speak of it.

DK: Um, all right. Tell us a bit about yourself, Captain.

B: Brendan, please, lass. I'm but a simple man, no titles please.

DK: I hear a bit of an accent in your tone. British?

B: Never! I be Irish, lass, and proud of it.

DK: I see. How did an Irish Sea Captain end up in this land?

B: Quite by mistake, let me assure ye lass of that. I be here not by any choosing of me own. But of broken promises and of curses and such.

DK: Curses? Broken promises? Could you please elaborate?

B: Aye. Twice a battle between two old--

*Deep BOOM of thunder rents through the air, shaking the very floor*

DK: Sounds like a storm is coming.

B: Indeed there is, lass. Indeed. Please excuse me, I've matters to attend.

DK: Thank you for joining us today. We've researched long and hard to find a picture of Captain Brendan's ship, and it's attached below, along with a somewhat cryptic photo of the Captain himself.
Please join us again next week.

And an Excerpt, of Brendan from She Waited:

Finally he had found his way back home. At last. His beloved Eire. Only it was no more. He stood on the hill where he had stood so many times before. He looked over the land he had watched so many times before. He had taken this all for granted, he thought. Believed it would always be here, never change.
But it had.
He fell to his knees, weeping unashamed. He had lost everything. His friends, his family, his home. His Brianna. Oh Great Goddess, his Brianna. And he had no one to blame but himself. No one at all.
“So what shall you do now, Brendan, son of Brain?”
He looked up into the Great Goddess’ eyes. He swallowed, took a few deep breaths. “I owe to you a debt, my Goddess. And now I’ve a score to settle too, for taking my Brianna.”
“Ouch, now, Brendan, you did that to yourself. ‘Tis not me to blame for what you did. And to correct it, you know what you must do.”
“Then why am I here? Why am I not in the land where she is and where I made the great error?”

my Weekly Assignment, part 3

Sir,

i choose this picture because of its beauty and because it is something i would, with Your consent and permission, like to try.

i love the way her body is arching TO the wax, and the expression on her face. i want that to be me, with Your hand holding a flame above me. i want to be beautiful and feel that delicious burn, the drops of wax to mark my skin, and to know Your hand is doing this exquisite art work. i want to look at the patterns of wax Your hand drips upon my body and wonder at why You choose that particular pattern and what You will do next. i want to see Your face as You mark me in this beautiful way.

i want You to know You have all in me in all You ask of me.

And i want to explore the wax play, Sir. i want to know what it feels like and the desire it brings. Something in me longs for it, needs it, craves it.

Which is why You assigned this to me. You knew the needle play terrifies me, and is not something i wish to do, yet would, if You ordered it, since all You have asked of me has been for my own learning, experience, and growth. You knew i desired this wax play, that something in me longs for it. And You have started my training and learning in this.

When shall W/we explore further, Sir?

my Weekly Assignment Part 2

Sir,

i choose this picture because it represents giving and that is what i want to do for You. Give.

Her fingers are cupped around the wax, even as it drips between her fingers. She is trying, to me, to hold this even as it slowly slips away from her. It is being 'destroyed', yet creating something new. Once straight and proud (i think), it is now, literally a puddle. Yet still it shines brightly.

i feel that way with You. i once thought myself so strong and independent, straight and proud, if You will. But it took You lightening me to show me the power of true submission and the rewards which come from it. i still shine now, brighter, i think, because You molded me from what i was into something better.

And i gave that to You, Sir. Even when i feel it all slipping away, i gave it to You. All.

After all, You do call me 'little flame', don't You? *soft smile*

So that's why i choose this picture, Sir.

my Weekly Assignment, pt. 1

Sir,

i choose this picture because it shows my feelings for You best.

i felt, at first, when i realized i was in love with You, that You have stabbed me through the heart, because it was a hopeless love i could never dream might be returned. You are Everything in Your world, the undisputed King, the head of all Masters, the One all slaves long to be with and to be called 'Yours'. i was a newcomer, unaware of Your ways, Your lives, Your manners and customs, and even terrified of You even as i was drawn to You.

i could deny You nothing, even when i tried, even when it felt my heart was pierced and breaking. Do You recall, Master? You would scream at me, WHAT DO YOU FEEL??? TELL ME!!! and i couldn't. i would try so hard to SHOW You, because i just couldn't say what You wanted. But even as i shattered, and all i thought was 'right' and 'correct' was destroyed, i realized You were slowly, painstakingly, stitching me back together.

So that's why i choose this picture. Because it's my heart, which i gave You and You needle played back together.
